Frequently Asked Questions
How many sessions will I have?
I offer both long and short term counselling, we can decide together how many sessions you might want but I suggest a regular review after 6 sessions for all clients, generally meeting once a week at the same time and day. Some clients prefer to meet alternate weeks or once a month to suit personal need and finances.
Where do we meet?
I walk at Ashton Court, Bristol. We can choose our route together and adapt it according to your ability and the terrain. I will send a detailed location on booking. Other venues may be possible, please contact me to discuss this. Telephone sessions and home visits can also be arranged.
How is confidentiality maintained when walking and talking?
We will agree what you would like to do and say if you meet someone you or I know when we are together. We will generally be walking in areas where people are unable to overhear us but can adapt to the situation as necessary and ensure you are comfortable.
What do I need to wear?
Appropriate footwear and clothing for the weather is ideal eg wellies/walking boots/trainers and a waterproof coat for the wet and muddy days and sun cream for the sunny ones! We can stay on the tarmac path if trainers are most comfortable for you. I am happy to walk in all weather unless there is lightning.
Can I bring my dog?
Counselling is time for you. Dogs, lovely as they can be are generally a distraction but if walking without your dog will make life difficult for you then we can discuss this.
How much does it cost?
Both walk and talk and telephone sessions last 50 minutes and cost £55 which is payable before the session. A concessionary rate may be available for those on a low income, please contact me for further details.
